The Pathways Foundation Limited

The Pathways Foundation was established in 2001 and is a non-profit, registered charity providing services for Hong Kong children with specific learning disabilities (SLD) and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) in order to help them achieve their full potential in school and daily life.

SLD is a group of neurological disorders which cause significant difficulties in listening, speaking, reading and writing. For example, in dyslexia, the most prevalent condition among this group, the child finds is difficult to recognize words fluently and accurately, and may find dictation, spelling, reading comprehension and overall learning through print a major challenge. Some children will experience significant difficulties with number work.

The AD/HD group of disorders differs from SLD, but also has a neurological basis, and can coexist with SLD. Children with AD/HD exhibit such behaviours as distraction, impulsivity and hyperactivity.

Pathways provides intensive professional interventions to help strengthen literacy, numeracy and organizational abilities as well as social skills specific to children with SLD and/or AD/HD. It helps bridge the gap between the child's performance in school and his/her true learning potential, encouraging proactive behaviour and restoring self-esteem.
